HUDDERSFIELD Town have landed experienced Cardiff City striker Jon Parkin as a loan replacement for suspended Alan Lee.

The 29-year-old 6ft 4in battering ram will go straight into the squad as Town bid to extend their record Football League unbeaten run to 44 matches against divisional leaders Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Monday.

Galpharm manager Lee Clark has drafted in the former Barnsley, York, Macclesfield, Hull, Stoke, Preston and Cardiff man on a two-month loan.

He has 90 career goals in 357 appearances and Clark said: "Jon will do a very similar job to what Alan Lee has done very well so far this season.

“He has been brilliant at taking the load off Jordan Rhodes and Lee Novak and it is no coincidence that both of them are in double figures in terms of goals scored.

“We feel that Jon will be able to fill the gap that has been made due to Alan’s suspension. We have seen what he can do at first hand when he played against us for Cardiff in the Carling Cup fixture. He was very good on the night and I think sometimes he doesn’t get the credit that he deserves.

“We are looking forward to having him here and he will go straight into the squad for the game against Charlton.”
