ACCORDING to the marks given by the referees to clubs in Huddersfield, the standards set earlier in the season in the Respect Programme are being maintained.

Only 2% of clubs have an average of below six (out of a possible of 10), while at the other end of the scale, 55% have an average over eight.

It has to be remembered when comparing averages, different Leagues have bigger samples than others. Therefore, those with a smaller sample are likely to still witness larger variations than those with a larger sample.

Many of the District League’s clubs have been marked by referees as many as 10 or 12 times while those in the Works League and Kirklees Sunday League have only half as many marks.

Fourteen clubs have an average of over nine and these are vying for the Huddersfield FA Respect Trophy.

The Kirklees Sunday League are well represented in the top 14 with Wellington Westgate B the current leaders from the Works League side FC Lockwood in second.

These two have a low sample and one poor mark could have an effect on their average, so it’s up to them.

Nine clubs have an average of below seven and the Kirklees Sunday League are just as well represented at the bottom as they are at the top.

Bottom of the pile are Queen, with District League side Uppermill just above them.

In an effort to encourage those that are doing well to maintain their standards and also to encourage those not doing so well to improve, the highs and lows on a divisional basis are as follows.

District League – Division I: top two are Scholes and Hepworth while the bottom two are Uppermill and Newsome.

Division II: top two are Holmfirth Town and Shelley; the bottom two are Heywood Irish and Dalton Crusaders.

Division III: top two are Paddock and AFC Waterloo; bottom two are KKS and Grange Moor.

Division IV: top two are AFC Lindley and Lokomotiv Cowcliffe; bottom two are Huddersfield Utd and Aimbry.

Works League – Division I: the top two are Lepton and Hepworth while the bottom two are Lindley Saddle and Aimbry.

Division II: top two are FC Lockwood and Scissett while the bottom two are Force Utd and Phoenix Knights. However, the second division has an overall high average as second bottom Phoenix Knights have an average of eight.

The situation in the Kirklees Sunday League is that Marsh and Dalton are joint top of Division I while Pak Rangers and Wellington Westgate A make up the bottom two.

In the Second Division, the leaders are Wellington Westgate B, who are just above Escorpians, with Queen at the bottom and Town Rangers the team above them.
