EMILY HECKLER scored twice as third-placed Town fought out a 3-3 draw with second-placed Hessle in their latest North-East Regional Women’s League Premier Division clash.

Heckler was a constant threat and after the visitors had taken an early lead, came close with a header which was tipped over.

The Town ace was not to be denied, however, and after 35 minutes, broke clear to produce a clinical finish.

Just before half-time, Heckler’s cross was headed in by Kate Mallin and Town – inspired in midfield by Emma Poole – had the lead.

Jo Symington was unlucky when she headed a corner against a post on 55 minutes.

Two minutes later Hessle drew level after a defensive mix-up but, on 65, Heckler was upended in the area and scored from the penalty spot.

Hessle hit the bar with 20 minutes left, then scrambled a leveller from a corner.

Town, a point behind Hessle with two games in hand, are at St Francis of Hartlepool on Sunday (2.00).

The Under 17s ended Lepton’s 100% record when they won 2-1 in their West Riding Girls League derby.

Lepton took the lead on 16 minutes but shortly before the break, Shauna Messenger levelled with a volley.

Town, now six points clear at the top, dominated in the second half, with new girl Shameeka Fishley causing all sorts of problems up front and netting the winner from a well-weighted pass by Messenger.

Pool Girls is the destination on Sunday (11.00) while tomorrow, both the Under 15s (against Silsden Girls in the WR League) and Under 13s (Edlington Royals in the Sheffield and Hallamshire League) are in action at Grange Moor (10.30).
