Wolverhampton Wanderers are believed to be in talks with Ligue 1 side Angers over Moroccan international Romain Saïss and could have the deal wrapped up ahead of the Huddersfield Town clash this weekend.

The 6'3" defensive midfielder, who can also play as a centre-back, was Angers' player of the year last campaign and was wanted by many clubs across Europe - including Aston Villa.

According to the Express and Star, Saïss' representatives were in Wolverhampton on Monday in an attempt to thrash out a deal, but nothing concrete has come of the talks so far.

The Moroccan joined the Ligue 1 outfit for £450,000 from Le Havre last summer and scored twice in his 35 appearances for 'Les Scoïstes'.

Saïss would become Wolves' ninth capture of the summer if he were to sign at Molineux and the 26-year-old would have to sign by midday on Friday to be eligible to face Town.

Wolves new boys Ola John and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson are both available for the trip to the John Smith's Stadium and the pair could also feature in the EFL Cup tie against Cambridge United on Tuesday.
