Huddersfield Town midfield duo Matt Crooks and Jordan Sinnott have left the club by mutual consent.

Crooks, 21, and Sinnott, 20, had six months remaining on their deals at the John Smith's Stadium, but manager Chris Powell has sanctioned the departures of both as his clear-out continues.

The duo become the sixth and seventh players to depart the club, either temporarily or permanently, this month and Paul Dixon is expected to be the eighth with a return to Dundee United as Town close in on a move for Blackpool striker Ishmael Miller .

Versatile Crooks made his first-team debut in the opening-day thrashing at home to Bournemouth in a central defensive role and the defeat led to the exit of Mark Robins and opportunities under Powell were scarce as he headed out for loan spells at League Two sides Hartlepool United and Accrington Stanley.

Sinnott, meanwhile, has made three first-team outings and the last of those came this season in a late cameo off the bench during the 2-1 win at Reading but he was also unable to break through after Powell arrived.

The manager said: “Matt and Jordan are both great characters to have around the training ground; they have been at the club for a number of years and came through the academy.

“Both were due to be out of contract at the conclusion of the current season and we believe it is fair to release them now and give them every chance of securing a future at a new club.

“Both players leave with our best wishes.”
