Ex-Newcastle United defender Celestine Babayaro wants his former club to sign on loan Manchester City stopper Joe Hart.

The goalkeeper has been on loan at Italian club Torino all season having dropped out of favour with Citizens boss Pep Guardiola and looks likely to leave on a permanent deal at the end of the campaign.

And Babayaro agrees with talkSport host Mick Quinn that Hart would be a top signing for the Magpies.

He told the radio station: “Absolutely I would have Joe Hart. He is one of the best in the world, and if they can get Hart he could be a really good goalkeeper for them.

“Benitez is an experienced manager, at some of the best clubs in the world. I think that he is the man for Newcastle; you saw how he handled them in the Championship.

“Mike Ashley should do whatever it takes to keep him.”

Newcastle have also been linked with a move for Man City man Yaya Toure.

The Ivorian has been offered a new contract at the Etihad, but the 33-year-old is believed to be setting his sights on a move away to guarantee first team football.

The Sun claims Newcastle, Brighton, West Ham and Crystal Palace are all interested, but the Chronicle refutes any Toon interest.

The local paper suggests Toure's name has not been mentioned in any previous transfer summits and his £250,000-a-week is way too much for the North East club.

Leeds United boss Garry Monk has revealed signing Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley on a permanent deal is his top priority this summer.

The centre-half joined the Elland Road outfit on loan at the start of the season and helped guide the Whites to seventh place in the Championship table - narrowly missing out on a play-off spot.

And Monk wants to bring the defender back to West Yorkshire next year.

Asked if he wanted to re-sign the 25-year-old, Monk told the Yorkshire Post: "Of course. Kyle’s been tremendous this season.

“Obviously I’ve got experience with Kyle and I know him very well, but he’d be the first to tell you that this has been by far his best season and by far his best progression as a footballer – the best football he’s ever played.”

Aden Flint of Bristol City

Derby County are ready to match any bids for Bristol City defender Aden Flint, according to reports.

The Sun claim Aston Villa are keen on signing the 27-year-old, with the Rams waiting to match any bid the Villans submit.

Flint has made 168 appearances for the Robins and helped steer them away from the Championship drop zone this season.

The rumours come just days after the Sun reported West Ham and West Brom were also interested in the centre-half.
