HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Lee Clark is reported to be in negotiations with Leicester City in a bid to recruit the services of frontman Steve Howard.

The Daily Mail claims Huddersfield are in for the 34-year-old striker, who has 12 months left on his contract, and a fee of £300,000 is believed to be on the table.

Lee Clark has made no secret of his desire to bring in a 'battering-ram' style centre forward and Howard could fit the bill.

It would however show a marked change in attitude towards the signing of older players, after Dean Hoyle's comments on Southampton striker Ricky Lambert's potential signing last season. At 28 he was deemed not worthy of a £1 million pound price tag, as the sell on fee and contract length would not recoup the investment.
