Hello and welcome to our Huddersfield Town live blog for Monday, May 21 .

The summer transfer window has now moved into a second week, with Premier League sides looking to bolster their options for next season by bringing in a range of world-class talents.

Leicester City were the first to get a deal done last week, with Porto defender Ricardo Pereira joining the Foxes on a five-year deal.

Expect a number of other deals to be completed over the coming weeks, with this summer's World Cup effectively reducing the amount of time clubs have to add to their ranks.

And expect Town to once again make their moves early, with David Wagner and Dean Hoyle getting their business done before most of their rivals in the last two summer windows.

Stick with us here for all the latest news and rumours regarding the Terriers as well as the best lines from their rivals and across the leagues.

Hello Again...

The Guardian are suggesting Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is contemplating renewing his interest in Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.

Mahrez saw a move to the Etihad collapse during the winter transfer window after the Foxes stated it would take a ‘mind-blowing offer’ to prise him away - City were quoted a package worth around £95m, while they valued the 27-year-old closer to £60m.

And while no formal offer was made, there were discussions between City’s chief executive, Ferran Soriano, and his opposite number, Susan Whelan.

The newly-crowned champions ultimately walked away from the deal, leading to a furious and upset Mahrez effectively going on strike and handing in a formal transfer request before later rescinding it.

Jaap Stam has been made favourite to take over at Swansea City after the south Wales side parted ways with Carlos Carvalhal.

The Swans were relegated from the Premier League two weeks ago and must now look to rebuild for the Championship.

That starts with the manager, and former Reading boss Stam - whose Royals lost in last season’s play-off final - is now the front runner for the role.

Stam is at 2/1 to take over at the Liberty Stadium, while Chris Coleman is at 5/1 and Graham Potter is at 8/1.

West Brom exodus?

Darren Moore has been speaking about West Brom’s summer after their relegation from the Premier League.

Ins and outs are expected at the Hawthorns, with higher-wage players likely to move on.

Could Town benefit from that?

Here’s what Moore had to say about preparing for the Championship:

I’m sure it’s going to be a busy transfer window.

I will be speaking to the players at some point this week. The fans can expect a team that can play football and also a team that can scrap and fight.

There are plenty of different challenges in the Championship.

Depoitre or Benteke?

Roberto Martinez’s interesting World Cup selection - which includes four goalkeepers and no Radja Nainggolan - has raised some eyebrows.

One point of contention is the inclusion of Christian Benteke, who has been horribly out of form for the majority of the season.

If you could pick from Benteke and Laurent Depoitre, who are you taking to Russia?

No Depoitre for Belgium

Roberto Martinez has named Belgium’s squad for the upcoming World Cup finals in Russia.

The Red Devils take on England in the group stages - along with Tunisia and Panama - with a host of Premier League stars in their side.

Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard all make the 28-man squad - which will be cut down to 23 in early June - while Town’s Laurent Depoitre misses out.

The Town man netted six goals for the Terriers this term but was not selected for the summer tournament, despite being the hero with his strike against Chelsea in the final week of the season.

One surprise omission from the Belgium squad is fan-favourite Radja Nainggolan.

The Roma midfielder was not selected by former Everton boss Martinez, who did select Christian Benteke - a man with three goals in 31 games this season.

Huddersfield Town’s Laurent Depoitre will be hoping he can secure a spot at the summer competition, having netted six goals for the Terriers this season.

Depoitre is up against some stiff opposition from the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Michy Batshuayi and Christian Benteke, but will be hoping his heroics for Town could sneak him into the final 23.

We’ll find out in half an hour.

Premier League fixtures

With the World Cup coming up in a month’s time, the summer break from football will thankfully be kept to a minimum this year.

The competition kicks off on June 14 and 4pm, but that date is significant for another reason.

The Premier League fixtures are announced on the same day at 9am, so domestic teams can start to prepare for their opening clashes on the same day as Russia take on Saudi Arabia in Moscow.

Here are all the other key dates you may need for the rest of the season.

Huddersfield Town's Sean Scannell hailed the club's promotion as an 'unbelievable' achievement.

Town winger Sean Scannell has switched allegiance from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland.

Scannell had been called up to the Republic squad in 2008 but did not feature, allowing the 27-year-old to switch to Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland.

The forward, whose father is Northern Irish, will be available to O’Neill for the upcoming Nations League campaign, which starts against Bosnia and Herzegovina in September.

On the switch, Northern Ireland boss O’Neill told Belfast Live:

Sean has submitted all the paperwork. He has a shoulder injury at the moment, but he is a player who will come into the equation for us come September.

If you look at Niall (McGinn) and Jamie (Ward) who play in that position – they are both in their 30s. There is an element of making a succession plan in terms of where we need players.

Someone like Sean coming in would be good. It would be pleasing to get him on board.”
