Liverpool are being linked with another goalkeeper - even after completing the signing of Loris Karius from Mainz last week.

Reports in Italy claim the Anfield club are interested in bringing back their former stopper Pepe Reina to add to their goalkeeping options.

And that would leave Danny Ward, currently behind Simon Mignolet in the pecking order, facing the possibility of being the fourth choice in Jurgen Klopp's senior squad.

The Wales international, who has been selected in Chris Coleman's final squad for Euro 2016 , has been heavily linked with a season-long loan move to Huddersfield Town - although no deal has yet been done.

But the signing of Karius indicated he would be free to move and gain extra first team experience on loan at the John Smith's Stadium.

And the Reina rumours provide further evidence that Klopp is planning for a season without Ward, who usurped the unwanted Adam Bogdan as Mignolet's deputy at the end of last term.

Liverpool did not qualify for Europe, so minutes would be at a premium even without the addition of Reina, who won the FA Cup and League Cup with the Reds during a nine year career on Merseyside.

He is now established as the no.1 at Napoli but is reportedly interested in a return to Anfield.

Ward is in Klopp's long term plans, but is searching for first team games after impressing for Aberdeen on loan last year.
