Jamie Paterson is back at the Nottingham Forest training ground ahead of the 2016/17 Championship campaign.

The former Huddersfield Town loanee posted a picture of the club's facility to his instagram as players get ready for the demands of pre-season training.

Forest are still to appoint a new manager, while new director of football Pedro Pereira was only announced last week.

The situation at the City Ground has prevented any significant movement on a deal for the player who scored eight goals in 36 appearances for Town last term.

David Wagner has been open about wanting to sign Paterson, but the manager didn't expect to be able to complete any transfer until later in the window.

And by then the club may have moved on to other targets to ensure they are not left short when the season kicks off in August.

The arrival of Jack Payne, the sixth new first team player to sign this summer , makes the situation less pressing.

Payne, 21, likes to play in the 'number 10' role and netted nine times for Southend last season.
