HARRY Redknapp and Tottenham Hotspur look to be winning the race to sign Town's highly-rated young goalkeeper Alex Smithies according to The Daily Mirror.
Several Premiership club scouts, including Everton, Portsmouth and QPR, were spotted at the Galpharm at the games prior to the transfer deadline window closing. But Chairman-elect dean Hoyle slapped a £1 million price tag on the youngster and stated he would like to keep the player at the club till at least the end of the season.
If the 18-year-old England junior international were to leave at the end of his contract, in the summer, the fee would be decided by a tribunal and the Galpharm club would be entitled to compensation under the Bosman ruling because the player is under 24
