HARTLEPOOLl United manager Danny Wilson said he was happy with his players performance despite finishing 3rd in the Centenary Cup.

Pools lost to Sunderland Reserves on Saturday before beating Huddersfield on Sunday, reports Vital Football .

Wilson told the official site that he was pleased with the performance in the heat ''The lads have had to cope with some testing conditions because it's not easy to play when it's as hot as it's been this weekend.''

''They've done brilliantly to keep going as they did today - there was a lot of defending to do near the end when Huddersfield were pressing but the lads showed great desire.''
