Shelley Veterans will come face-to-face with Peter Beagrie on Sunday.
The former Everton, Manchester City and Bradford City star plays for Harrogate Town.
And they are hosting the Huddersfield-based side in the northern semi-finals of the National Veterans League Masters competition.
Should Shelley get through, they would be just one step away from playing for the National title against the southern champions.
Manager Jonathan Horsman explained: “Harrogate have got some really good ex-professionals like Beagrie, Colin Cooper and Barry Hayles and they’ve competed abroad representing England Vets.
“But we’ve got a good side as well with plenty of lads who have been in the professional game, and the prospect of being three wins away from landing the Masters for the whole country is one we are relishing.”
Shelley, who have a number of Bradford-based players, fly out on May 13 to play as Bradford City Vets in a tournament in Germany.
