Huddersfield enjoyed back-to-back victories in the Yorkshire Billiards League.

The trio of Matthew and David Peaker, and Steve Whiteley secured a 7-0 win over Doncaster and followed that up with a 5-1 success against the Huddersfield second team of Jeremy Ford, Julian Hodge and John Ingleby.

In the match against Doncaster Matthew Peaker started with a 200-124 victory over Dave Palmer, making 55 and 58 breaks along the way, and Whiteley followed up with a 200-126 win over Brian Hoole before David Peaker was a comfortbale 200-216 winner against Lawrence Torn.

Against the Huddersfield second string the competition proved a little tougher with Ingleby beating David Peaker 200-191 in a tight contest.

However, comfortable wins for Matthew Peaker, by 200-53 over Hodge, and Whiteley by 200-121 over Ford, ensured that the Huddersfield first team moved into second place in the league just two points behind leaders Leeds going into the last two matches of the season.

In the Huddersfield Sunday Schools Billiards League Brockholes BC had a 3-0 home win against Rastrick New Road which allowed them to pull away at the top of the table.

The Yorkshire Billiards Championship is to be staged on Sunday, April 27, with the handicap event on Sunday, may 18.

Both competitions will be held at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds with an 11am start – all players to register by 10.30am.
