New father Tyrone Nurse aims to ensure it’s the same old story when he defends his British light-welterweight title against Willie Limond in Glasgow on Saturday.

The Huddersfield holder is seeking his 33rd career win against the experienced Scot and former British 10st champion on the big Ricky Burns vs Michele Di Rocco WBA light-welterweight title bill.

It’s Nurse’s 36th fight, but the first since the birth of his daughter earlier this year.

“After her arrival there is extra motivation to win as much as I can to build a legacy she can proud off,” said the 27-year-old.

“I want her to be able to say my dad is Tyrone Nurse and he won this, this and this.

“People keep asking me about the sleepless nights - but I can count the ones we’ve had on one hand.

“She’s as good as gold and has been sleeping through so it’s not been a problem.”

It’s a 44th career fight for Limond, who has lost just four times and beat Curtis Woodhouse to claim the British tile back in June 2014.

Nurse, who beat Welshman Chris Jenkins in Manchester in November to take the belt, said: “On paper, this is definitely the toughest fight of my career so far.

“But at 37, it’s all about what Willie Limond has got left.

“Will he be able to bring the same quality to the ring as Chris Jenkins did? We’ll find out on Saturday night.

“It doesn’t take a genius to work out that if Ricky Burns wins the world title and Limond beats me, then they will have a massive fight in Glasgow - we all know that.

“It’s certainly last-chance saloon for Limond at the age he is and obviously the incentive is there for him as he knows there could be something huge if he wins.

“The promoter is seeing pound signs but it’s not going to happen.

“I’m not fazed one bit by fighting in Glasgow.

“I’ve sparred up there many times and been to Ricky Burns shows, so I know it’s loud and hostile.

“But once the bell goes it will be just me and him - the crowd will not be able to help then.”
