Woodsome Hall golfer Chris Hanson endured two bogeys in the final three holes to be one over par in the Tshwane Open in South Africa.

Hanson was going well at Pretoria Country Club, in his fifth event as a full European Tour cardholder, but finished with a 71 after taking four at the par-three 16th and five on the par-four last.

He had been one under after five holes following a birdie on the par-four third, but he was one over at the turn following bogeys at the sixth and ninth.

Hanson, whose only missed cut so far on Tour was at the Australian PGA Championship, immediately pulled that back with a birdie three at the 10th, before going one under again at the 15th.

He was well set on the heels of the top 20 at that stage but fell back with those two late bogeys. The consolation is, however, that there are plenty of people behind him and he’ll be looking to go well under par in round two.
