Netherthong gymnast Erin McLachlan has taken more steps along the pathway for selection for the 2014 Commonwealth Games to represent Scotland.

The 16-year-old recently competed at the Scottish Gymnastics Championships and, despite struggling with illness prior to the competition, McLachlan became the Senior beam champion and won the silver medal in the vault – achieving Games qualification scores in both disciplines.

The success builds upon her achievements at the Northern European Championships which were held in Belfast at the end of 2013. E

McLachlan’s strong performances helped Scotland achieve the silver medal in the team event.

McLachlan achieved a bronze medal in the vault, a silver on floor and a gold medal on beam.

McLachlan, who trains with the Diamonds GC in Halifax, is now in preparation for her return to action at the British Championships in Liverpool later this month.
