Officials at Huddersfield Rugby Union Club are gutted to have lost two big matches this weekend.

Firstly, Huddersfield were denied the chance to take on fellow strugglers Luctonians in National II North because of frost at Lockwood Park.

Then they missed out on hosting Yorkshire Carnegie’s British & Irish Cup clash with Munster A because of concerns over frost and snow.

That match – for which Lockwood Park staff had put in a lot of effort to provide hospitality – was switched to Headingley, with the decision being made on Saturday afternoon following an earlier pitch inspection by a referee.

Huddersfield must now prepare for Saturday’s important trip to Sandal.

Huddersfield YMCA – who also had their Yorkshire Carnegie Cup visit to Laund Hill cancelled earlier in the season – had their match at Birkenhead Park postponed in National III North.

YMCA are at home to Rossendale this coming Saturday.
