Hooker Francis Entressangle is back at Huddersfield Rugby Union Club.
The 26-year-old former Northumbria University student is back from Newcastle – where he played with Blaydon – and keen to play a part in a National III North promotion push.
At 5ft 9in and 100kg, the former Holmfirth High pupil is a tremendous fourth summer import says Lockwood Park head coach Gareth Lewis.
“It’s great to have a player of Fran’s quality coming back to the club,” said Lewis.
“In his time at Blaydon he established himself as an excellent National I hooker.
“No doubt this will provide me with a real selection headache, but in National III you need players who can play in a number of positions, and it’s a great problem to have.
“He is another local player and he is ready to put pride back in the jersey.”
Entressangle explained why he was keen to rejoin Field, who have kept the bulk of players from last season’s relegation from National II North.
“It was a combination of moving away from Newcastle and buying into the club’s 2016-17 campaign,” he said.
“There has been an impressive club restructuring since I last played here in 2011, and I wanted to return to the club where I started playing.”
Entressangle will join his new clubmates for pre-season training on Tuesday, June 28, at Lockwood Park.
Lewis added: “Intense weight and field sessions are in prospect.
“If players want to be in contention for the opening league game on September 3, they need to be prepared to push their boundaries and beat their rivals in every aspect of pre-season training.
“We can’t wait to welcome the boys back.”
