Huddersfield’s former World Darts Scott Waites faces Dutch opposition in the first round of the Lakeside World Darts Championship.

The 2013 champion – who is also a former Winmau World Masters champion, WDF World Cup singles’ champion, Zuiderduin Masters champion – will faces Holland’s Willem Mandigers.

The 26-year-old Mandigers won the Turkish Open in 2014

The championship gets under way on Saturday January 2 with the final to be played on Sunday, January 10.

Scott Mitchell will begin the defence of his Lakeside World Championship title with a clash against either Craig Caldwell or Alan Soutar at Frimley Green next January.

Mitchell clinched his first Lakeside crown courtesy of a thrilling last-set victory over Martin Adams.

Number one seed Glen Durrant will take on young Welshman Dean Reynolds – a PDC Challenge Tour event winner in July – with ‘Duzza’ aiming to avenge his semi-final heartbreak at the hands of Adams.
