Lee Gregory will be back on the goal trail as FC Halifax Town bid to go into the Skrill Conference play-offs on the back of a home victory over Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.
While Cambridge and Grimsby are certain of the play-offs, the Shaymen still need a point from tomorrow’s 5.30 showdown to be mathematically certain of extending their season.
But their goal difference means missing out is unlikely, and by bettering Grimsby’s result at Braintree, who are effectively fighting it out with Gateshead for the final play-off place, they will finish third.
That would mean home advantage in the semi-final second legs, which will take place next weekend (the first legs are on Wednesday and Thursday).
Gregory notched his 29th goal of the season in Monday’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at Southport.
The former Mansfield man is just one behind Andre Gray, of champions Luton, in the Conference goal chart.
Kidderminster are seventh after their goalless home draw with Nuneaton on Monday.
Northern Premier League-bound Brighouse Town complete their Northern Counties East League Premier Division programme with a trip to Bridlington Town on Saturday (3.00).
Paul Quinn’s champions aim to bounce back after their 1-0 home defeat by Bridlington on Monday.
