TOWN Ladies were always likely to struggle without five first teamers at York City, and it only took the home side 16 minutes to take the lead after a goalmouth scramble.

Abby Iggledon drew Town level on 35 minutes, but their relief was only short-lived as York again took the lead with four minutes of the first half remaining.

Midway through the second half York settled the game with a third and completed the scoring with a fourth just before the final whistle.

Town’s Under 15s moved up to second place in the West Riding Girl’s Division following another good win at Normanton Athletic.

Abigail Connell and Rebecca Blaeford both struck twice while Emily Cook added a fifth as Town dominated the match.

It was a different story for the Under 13s however, as Wigton Moor United inflicted Town’s first League defeat of the season with a 7-1 hammering.

Wigton never let the Huddersfield side get into their stride and were soon 2-0 ahead before Lucy Ellis pulled one back.

Any hopes of a recovery were soon quashed as Wigton added a third before the break, and then struck four more times in the second half.
