RYAN HALL notched two late goals to steer Huddersfield into the semi-finals of the West Riding FA Minor Cup with a 3-2 win at Goole and Thorne.

Things looked bleak when the home side, needing to win to progress, went 2-1 down in the 67th minute.

But William Wilson’s long throw set up Hall for a close-range finish in the 80th minute, then when Wilson’s fierce 20-yard shot was parried, Hall slotted his second from a narrow angle.

Huddersfield had been below par in the first half, and would have been more than a goal down at the break had it not been for keeper Greg Taylor.

They were fired up for the second half, however, and levelled when Wilson scored from Jordan Kennedy’s header across the face of goal.

The win put Huddersfield top of Group I with second-placed Leeds going into the other semi.

With a backlog of games in Group II, neither side knows their last-four opponent, with Bradford, Halifax, Keighley and Wharfedale all in the shake-up.
