HUDDERSFIELD RU field a re-shuffled back row for tomorrow’s testing visit of Fylde to Lockwood Park (3.00).
New signing Dan Hyde picked up a leg injury a couple of weeks ago, and although he played on it in last week’s 23-15 defeat at Leicester, Hyde only aggravated it further, so is being rested tomorrow.
And that means an immediate recall for skipper Mark Whithead, who returns at wing forward along with Gareth Lewis, with Nick Sharpe dropping back to No8.
The only other change in the side from that which started the game at Leicester sees Matt Clarke returning on to the wing, having recovered from a shoulder injury and flu virus, at the expense of Adam Sutcliffe, who moves to the subs’ bench.
Clarke was particularly impressive during the closing stages of last season, and will be making his seasonal debut against Fylde.
“We’re looking forward to tomorrow because Fylde are one of the best side’s in the division. They always bring a strong team and will give us a real test after last week’s disappointing performance against the Lions,” said head coach Mark Sowerby.
“We were flat to start with last week, and unfortunately those first 10 minutes set the tone for the game. So we must kick on this week.
“We really need to replicate some of the desire and focus that we showed in the first three games of the season, because playing at our best, we can live with anyone in this league.
“Defensively we were not too bad, but we certainly need to offer a bit more in attack from our perspective.”
