Borough of Kirklees Swimming Club coach Mark Lappin has hailed the achievements of his swimmers who won 33 titles at the Yorkshire Spring Championships.

The event, held at Pond’s Forge pool in Sheffield, brought some This year’s championships have been an outstanding swims for the club and notably from the nine years boys who took gold, silver and bronze in the 200m individual medley and 200m freestyle, and the 13 years girls who accomplished a hat trick of first, second and third in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke.

Coach, Mark Lappin said: “The programme at the Yorkshire Championships is very busy and quite lengthy in some places, so our younger swimmers did a fantastic job to stay focused on their events.

“Having Yorkshire champions in the club means a great deal to me and my coaching team.

“Becoming champion is an honour for these young swimmers and this year we have a fantastic number of 33!”

The club also gained some great results at the Distance Championships held at the John Charles centre in Leeds, winning 65 medals and having 140 finalists at the event.

In additional national 20 of the club’s swimmers qualified for the National Age and Youth Championships.

There were also Sprint Championships at Ponds Forge and again BoK had several more swimmers win through with Commonwealth trials qualification times.

By the end of the event the club we had 29 medallists and 38 finalists.

In the team freestyle and medley relay events the club won places in 17 out of 20 finals.

The eventual tally for the club in team finals was eight gold, three silver, two bronze and 15 finals
