Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club are holding an open day on Sunday.

They are opening the doors at their Edgerton base so that anyone can try free tennis, padel, squash and racketball.

It’s part of The Great British Tennis Weekend, when over 1,000 venues across Britain open for four weekends – inspiring over 50,000 men, women and children to pick up a racket and hit the court – all without costing a penny.

At Huddersfield, people can play from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday.

What’s special about Huddersfield’s open day is that they have padel courts – there are very few in the country – and it is fast becoming a very popular sport.

Rackets and balls will be provided so anyone can have a go.

In tennis there is adult coaching at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm, with family time on the half hour.

Free play is 2pm to 3pm, 3-4pm or 4-5pm. Mini tennis is at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

For padel, squash and racketball, rackets will be provided and people can get on court with friends, family or other people wanting to try.

There will be a BBQ available throughout and the bar will be open for refreshments.

Advanced booking is recommended and details are available at www.greatbritishtennisweekend.com.

Ben Gudzelak, Head of Racket Sports at Huddersfield LT&SC, said: “We are really excited to be running an open day as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend.

“It’s great chance to try the many racket sports we offer at Huddersfield LT&SC and find out what great sports they are.”
