Carrie Wagstaff from Batley capped an excellent  Sellers International Huddersfield Open tennis tournament by carrying off  two titles.

She played solidly throughout to  beat Lancashire’s Lauren Banks 6-2  6-4 in the ladies singles final at  Huddersfield Lawn Tennis & Squash Club’s Edgerton base.

And then she teamed up with  Batley clubmate Harry Wood to win  the mixed doubles, beating Andy  Smith and Kate Mallin, of host club  Huddersfield in the final.

Luke Johnson, the No1 seed from  Leeds, also took two titles.

In the men’s singles final, he beat  Huddersfield’s defending champion  and No3 seed Mike Tolman 6-3 6-3.

Then the two of them paired up to  win the men’s doubles 6-4 6-0 against  Ben Kirk and James Wetton.

“Coming off the back of a terrific  Wimbledon, we couldn’t have had a   better tournament,” said  Huddersfield head coach Becky Lee.

“It’s definitely been one of the best  Sellers we’ve staged and we’ve had  massive entries in all the younger age  groups, which is just fantastic.

“The event has run smoothly, too,  the weather has been incredible and  the players have been tremendous – so  it couldn’t have gone any better.”
