LOCAL tackle dealer Dave Finnegan won the Brighouse Summer qualifier at Riley’s Pond, taking the match in fine style.

Fishing pole bread and caster at the three to four-metre range, Finny made a slow start from peg 6, but eventually the carp responded and by the end of the match, 13 carp had graced his net for a winning weight.

Lindley star Martin Blagborough put his heart and soul into the match, and noticing fish swirling at his loose fee, he dotted his float right down, and fishing 12in deep, took five nice carp to claim the second qualifying spot.

Neil McFarlane came in third after losing a good tench early doors, but he still came in with a couple of good carp.

results: 1 Dave Finnegan 32lbs 1oz; 2 Martin Blagborough 18lbs 0oz; 3 Neil McFarlane 7lbs 12oz.
