WORLD Track Master medalist Ray Groves put 23 of Huddersfield’s Star Wheelers through their paces during a two-hour track session at Manchester Velodrome.

The riders were split into groups of beginners and more experienced riders before attempting some track exercises and mock races. Tim Warburton was the fastest rider in the beginners group, as they all underwent timed laps of the 250m track.

Warburton clocked 19.33sec, followed by Matt Cooke and David Longbottom with 19.53 and 19.97 respectively.

The fastest female rider was Club secretary Cathy Milner with a time of 24sec, with Fiona Warburton second in 25.09 and Emily Tidmarsh third, 25.47.

The experienced group did a mock 25-lap scratch race which was won by Mark Thaxter, with Mark Dennis and Ivan Boyes in second and third respectively.
