ALMONDBURY youngster Gypsy Black has just won a gold medal in the National Indoor Sportshall Championships in Birmingham.

The 12-year-old multi-sports youngster won the Under 13 two-lap sprint gold at the Aviva UK-backed competition in the NEC’s LG Arena, and he’s not even a member of an athletics club.

Black is also a member of Blackburn Rovers’ soccer academy, and plays football and rugby for his school team at King James’s in Almondbury.

“Because of his commitment to Blackburn it is difficult for Gypsy to specialise at the moment, although Bingley Harriers have expressed an interest in him joining,” said his Dad.

His athletic success came in the event, which calls for runners to run the length of the sports hall before bouncing off the wall at the end and then making the return trip.
