HOLME VALLEY runner Paul Pickup returned to winning ways in the Meltham Zero Club’s Murder Maniac event.
Run up and down Wessenden Head Road (two miles), the former Yorkshire 10-mile champion won in style, finishing 17 seconds ahead of Spenborough’s Lee Warburton.
A previous winner of the event, Pickup was helped by the absence of Andrew and Michael Pearson – Andrew’s winning time the year before was seven seconds faster than Pickup’s time of 10-21.
There was a full house for the host club in the juniors as the boys race was won by Matthew Teal from clubmates Adrian Hinchcliffe (second) and Neil Mellor (third).
