STADIUM RUNNERS are looking forward to another busy year.

The Galpharm-based club have an active membership of over 100, who support events in this area and are gearing up for the Huddersfield 10k on Sunday, February 26, which is hosted by Huddersfield Road Runners.

Stadium Runners, who meet each Monday and Thursday for runs around Huddersfield centre and neighbouring villages, organise their own Woodland Challenge each year from Bradley Scout Camp and are this time hoping to build on last year’s entry of oer 350.

The Stadium membership have just made a donation of £100 to Parkrun, which takes place in Greehhead Park on Saturday mornings.

They helped marshal the latest Parkrun, when over 200 attended. In less than a year, the average weekly participation has grown to around 150.

Some run, some jog and some walk the route and because of the improvements Kirklees Council have made to the park, the event is very popular and has led to a sizeable post-run social network. Parkrun is funded by a mix of sponsorship and private donations and every penny counts, with different running clubs around Huddersfield taking turns to support the event. Stadium Runners will support it again later in the year.
