HUDDERSFIELD’S Julie Field destroyed her previous personal best in the Knavesmire Brass Monkey half-marathon.
In the Knavesmire event in York, which is one of the most popular events in the country, Field produced her outstanding run.
She beat her previous personal best of 1hr 36min 48sec at Liversedge last year with a time of 1-30-01, showing solid form ahead of the London marathon.
For the men, another Huddersfield runner, Mark Pigford, opened his season purposefully claiming both the Overall and M40 Club record for the half-marathon in an impressive 1-21-01.
All-time personal bests were achieved by many other Stainland Lions runners including Jon Collins, David Hutchings, Dave Webb, Maria Harron, Jimmy Smith and Paul Patrick.
Clubmates took part in the Shell Four Villages half marathon in Helsby, Cheshire, which had 1,626 finishers.
Among them Sue Manning who achieved a personal best by an impressive 10 minutes.
However, the pinnacle in increased performance was reserved for Amanda Speight, slicing a huge 30 minutes off her time achieved at the Great North run.
Lesley Henderson achieved an admirable fourth place in her age category and Wendy Goodwin achieved a personal best, easing comfortably under 2 hours.
