HUDDERSFIELD Rams are eager for new recruits as they prepare for the new Aussie Rules season.
The club, who host Birmingham Sharks in a warm-up match at their Lockwood Park base on Sunday (2.00), have had two successful seasons.
Now they are keen to continue their growth as they go into another AFL GB Central North West Division campaign.
League games start in April, but training is already under way, and anyone interested is welcome to attend the Monday evening sessions on the back pitches at Lockwood Park (6.45).
“Some of our players have moved on because of work and university courses, so it would be great to get some new faces down,” said head coach Neil Morrison.
While league matches are nine-a-side, the Rams have five players challenging for inclusion in the Great Britain squad for this year’s World Cup, which like the game in Australia, is 18-a-side.
Club founder and president Karl Haigh, Danny Armitage, Alistair Delooze, Matt Whiteley and Jason Battye are all in the running.
The same five all played for England Dragonslayers in last year’s EU Cup in Milan and Highlander Cup in Scotland.
Sponsored by Easilift Loading Systems, the Rams finished third in North West Central last year after winning the pre-season national championships In Portsmouth and reaching the final of the Haggis Cup in Scotland.
