ROYDS HALL E produced a clean sweep in the mixed to gain revenge over Holmfirth F in the Huddersfield Badminton League Division VI.

The match was tied 3-3 after the men’s and ladies matches but then Royds Hall found another gear to run out 6-3 winners.

This was despite a spirited show from junior player Tom Pearson for Holmfirth, who won the match between the two clubs earlier in the season 5-4.

Royds Hall E 6 Holmfirth F 3: Men – Peter Walter and John Rousell lost to Clive Hunt and Tom Pearson 18-21 13-21, Walter and Gilbert Pufal beat Hunt and Rob Turner 21-17 21-16, Rousell and Pufal lost to Pearson and Turner 21-15 16-21 16-21.

Ladies – Catherine Firth and Sheila Harding beat Gail McCormack and Cathryn James 21-19 18-21 21-13, Firth and Andrea Caffoor lost to McCormack and Hazel Cooke 7-21 18-21, Harding and Caffoor beat James and Cooke 21-18 21-17.

Mixed – Walter and Firth bet Hunt and McCormack 21-19 23-21, Rousell and Caffoor beat Pearson and James 25-23 21-16, Pufal and Harding beat Turner and Cooke 21-18 21-18.
