ISSY CAFFOOR and Sue Oldfield were the winners of the Mixed B pairs tournament after a cliffhanger of a final.

The final was the best of three sets and it proved a tight affair as Caffoor and Oldfield beat rivals Ian Stuart and Cheryl Green 21-20, 21-20.

The section saw a mixture of experience and a couple of young players from the Eagles coaching squad in the pairings.

It proved a very close tournament with no pair managing to win all their games in the round robin section.

There was an impressive showing from Amy Crowther and Billy Prady, both juniors who attend the Eagles coaching.

Prady was playing in his second tournament this week, but the pair missed out on reaching the semis by just two points.

The semis were played over two ends with the scores being added together from both games, as no couple won both sets.

Stuart and Green made their way to the final by beating Les Newby and Diane Horton 17-21, 21-11 for an aggregate score of 38-32, while Caffoor and Oldfield defeated John Mellor and Nicky Faulkner 16-21, 21-9 for a total score of 37-30.
