ISSY CAFFOOR and Sue Oldfield provided the mixed win which enabled Royds Hall B to turn the tables on Valley St James D.

Only in October, Valley scored an 8-1 win over the same opposition in the Huddersfield Badminton League.

But this time, with home advantage and a full-strength team for only the third time in the campaign, Royds Hall managed to get the job done.

All the men’s matches were hard fought, but the home side managed to come out on top in all three, so when Margaret McAuley and Christine Berry took the first ladies, beating Ann McDonald and Hayley Smith 21-18 21-18, only the one match was needed for victory.

Valley launched a fightback winning the other ladies matches, but they missed out in that first mixed before taking the final two points.
