SPEN VALLEY B were in strong form in the Huddersfield Badminton League as they beat Shepley 8-1 as both fielded their regular sides.

Spen are in third after their win, maintaining their push for promotion for the third year running since joining the league, as they defeated a Shepley who are anchored to the bottom of the table.

However, Spen did not have it all their own way with the sturdy resistance of Shepley, especially in the ladies first string and the second string mixed matches.

The contest saw Spen pairing Diane Parish and Linda Pearson continue a run that has not seen them beaten in the past three seasons.
