THREE Huddersfield schools are this week taking part in the regional finals of the England Basketball National Schools Competition.

Kirklees had two West Yorkshire winners at Under 14 level, with Salendine Nook taking the girls’ title and Honley High the boys’.

At Under 16, Shelley College were successful in the boys’ section and went forward to the regionals against teams from North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humberside.

The event is being held at the new multi-sports facility at Leeds Trinity University College, Horsforth.

U14 Boys – County Champions: Honley HS (Kirklees), 2 Beckfoot (Bradford), 3 Rastrick (Calderdale), 4 Abbey Grange (Leeds), 5 Kings (Wakefield). U16 Boys – County Champions : Shelley College (Kirklees), 2 Lawnswood HS (Leeds), 3:Beckfoot (Bradford), 4 Kings HS (Wakefield), 5 Brooksbank (Calderdale).
