HUDDERSFIELD Heat basketball club have netted their first major business partner by agreeing a deal with Casino Red.

The Northumberland Street-based casino will play host to all Heats fundraiser and evening events to provide a much-needed boost to the club. And the inaugural event to mark the start of the partnership is tomorrow night (7.30pm start).

Heats general manager Eduardo Perez said: This partnership is a massive boost for the club, and we hope Casino Red and Huddersfield Heat will be able to work together for many years, and that our relationship will go from strength to strength.

My sincere thanks go to Ashley Spencer, the Marketing Manager at Casino Red for all his hard work to make this happen.

The actual details of the partnership will evolve over time, but we are very excited to have Casino Red on board.

We are also going to announce a big kit deal next week, which is also fantastic news and shows the club is becoming an attractive proposition as a potential business partner.

The clubs senior womens side pulled off a comprehensive win in their latest National Founders Cup game, defeating Manchester Divas 61-27 to move smoothly through to the second round in the North Pool of this years tournament.

The mens team were not quite so fortunate in their most recent English Basketball League Division III games, just losing out to Loughborough 83-76, before struggling a bit against Warrington (104-71) and Manchester (112-68).

Of bigger concern to Perez and his players, however, is an on-going concern over problems with their current Rishworth venue, which has led to the postponement of a couple of other fixtures against Sheffield Sabres and Shropshire Warriors.

The men are next in action on February 18 if the venue issues are resolved, although there may have to be a change of venue to complete this years set of fixtures.

The ladies, meanwhile, travel to Derby tomorrow for their next Founders Cup pool game.
