THE Huddersfield Billiards League reached a thrilling climax as Rastrick New Road and Brockholes BC clashed head-on with the title at stake.

New Road went into the final game needing just one point to ensure they saw off the challenge of Brockholes.

However, Brockholes made their intentions known from the start as first Matthew Peaker and then David Quarmby notched wins over Allan Bottomley and David Bottomley, respectively.

The final match between New Road’s Brian Taylor and Brockholes’ David Peaker, therefore, not only became the decider on the day, but also would the title.

It was Peaker who held his nerve and, despite giving away 125 points on handicap, he came through 200-182 to take the crown for Brockholes.
