ALMONDBURY Liberal Club A are strongly fancied to win the Huddersfield Liberal League.

But there is a battle on for the runners-up spot between Lindley A and Cowcliffe A, with the latter having three games left. They could find it difficult to gain points, though, with a hard game against leaders Almondbury A away included in the schedule.

At the other end, however, Primrose Hill and Almondbury B look destined to be relegated.

Kirkheaton A are still top of Section B but undefeated Linthwaite have a game in hand and could bridge the six-point gap with that game.

Most teams have three games left to play, because of flooding on June 25.

So the season has been extended a week and will now finish on Monday, September 17.

The Liberal League meeting due to take place on September 17, at Primrose Hill Lib, has been moved back a week to September 24 (8.30).
