ASHLEY DAYKIN is again Champion of Champions at the Griffin.

The pre-competition favourite regained the title with a 21-17 showpiece victory over Paul Ingleby at the Colne Valley winter venue.

Members worked hard on the previous two days to make sure the green was clear for play in the final event of the season, which was sponsored by Slawit & Golcar Cars.

Yorkshire star Daykin was in solid form throughout before taking the £120 first prize and trophy ahead of a star-studded field.

Daykin said he was delighted to win the Champions’ title again and thanked club secretary Frank Greenwood for his efforts in organising all the competitions and being an ever-present throughout the winter.

Club president Alan Hirst thanked those who had helped clear the green, praised greenkeeper Eddie Haigh and also thanked sponsor George Fellows of Slawit & Golcar Cars, who was represented by Gerald Sykes, who took away a gift from the club to pass on.

Hirst also thanked Mark Wood and family for providing refreshments.
