Ashley Daykin wins Marsh United £1400 competition

YORKSHIRE player Ashley Daykin took home the £600 first prize in the Marsh United £1400 competition.

Daykin (Netherton Con) triumphed, but only after overcoming a spirited challenge from Mark Atkinson (Crosland Moor BC) 21-10. Both bowlers played the green well, Daykin taking out his semi-final opponent Michael Martin from Canalside Sports 21-4, while Atkinson came from 8-12 and 15-18 down to defeat County man and previous winner Chris Mordue 21-19.

Quarter-finals: Mark Atkinson 21 Andy Deighton (Bridlington) 9, Graham Hickey (Halifax) 17 Chris Mordue 21, Ashley Daykin 21 Jack Dyson (Netherton Con) 14, Michael Martin 21 Terry Brook (Crosland Moor BC) 19.
