A big shake-up is on the way in the Colne Valley Bowling League.

Not only is president George Shelton stepping down because of health issues, but Alan Crowther is retiring from the role of both secretary and treasurer.

As a result, the annual meeting is to be held much earlier than usual – on Wednesday, January 27, at Longwood Bowling Club (8.15).

“It is vital that all clubs be represented as all officials are resigning from their current positions,” confirmed the respected Crowther, who has been at the forefront of operations for many years.

“This situation has come about due to ignored warnings regarding the workload on key individuals, which clubs have been made aware for a while was unsustainable.”

It’s been suggested a possible way forward may be to create two positions at the head of administration.

The first would be an administration secretary with treasurer duties, then a League and Competitions secretary.

The League need to fill the president and deputy president roles, and it may be necessary for member clubs in turn to provide these officials.
