MAUREEN ROBB of Colne Valley Garden Centre and Jean Brook (Shaw Son & Greenhalgh) won the Ladies Works League Pairs competition.
They beat Mary Kain (Kevin J Buckley) and Margaret Wimpenny (Brook Hansen B) 21-19 in a very exciting final.
There were 80 bowlers entered in the event at the Canalside Sports Complex. Partners were drawn and prizes awarded to the last eight pairs.
In the semi-finals, Robb and Brook beat Jean Bray (Bower & Roebuck) and Pat McDonagh (Palace Bar) 21-9, while Kain and Wimpenny beat Jean Wheelhouse (Sellers International) and Lorna Penny (Canalside B) 21-7.
In the last eight, Robb and Brook beat Linda Hirst (Schofield Metal Merchants) and Nancy Wood (Canalside Acre Mills) 21-16; Bray and McDonagh beat Jean Taylor (Brook Hansen B) and Julie Mallinson (Canalside Acre Mills) 21-14; Kain and Wimpenny beat Linda Chadwick (Shaw Son & Greenhalgh) and Tracey Robson (Trusted) 21-7; Wheelhouse and Penny beat Maureen Whitwam and Karen Rausse (Schofield Metal Merchants) 21-18.
