CROSLAND MOOR duo Mark Atkinson and Tom Fowler won the Meltham Cup Pairs.
In a superbly staged final by Huddersfield Rugby Union Club BC, Atkinson and Fowler beat Lockwood Con’s Mark Wood and Peter Kain 21-8 in the showpiece.
Atkinson’s near faultless leading was a feature of the victory in the Ben Shaws sponsored event, as was Fowler’s striking at the back when required – and they both played superbly well.
Afterwards, Atkinson spoke on behalf of the winners, thanking his girlfriend Lindsay in addition to the committee, host club and kitchen staff for the day.
