DANNY BEEBY was ‘very proud, honoured and delighted’ to win the Jack Burgin Trophy at Lockwood Con.

The Longwood BC man defeated Jack Dyson 21-16 in the final as 200 spectators lapped up the sunshine.

Beeby was always in front in the final and maintained his consistent form. On four occasions, Dyson struck to make dead ends while, at 20-16, it was Beeby who struck to clinch his first major success in an event sponsored by Lockwood & Salford Conservative Club.

Before the presentation, Huddersfield and District president Gerald Sykes paid tribute to the memory of his close friend Jack Burgin and said he was delighted Jack’s daughter, Natalie, was taking part in the presentation.

He thanked everyone at Lockwood Con for helping create an excellent occasion on an outstanding green.
