CHAMPIONS Netherton Con have a small advantage from a clutch of clubs in the Subscription Cup.

And they emphasised their intentions with an 11-5 win over previously-unbeaten Lower Hopton in the latest set of matches.

Currently leading the charge for promotion to the top flight from the Drayton Cup are Newsome WMC and Canalside Sports, both of whom were promoted from the Littlewood Cup last season.

This could, however, turn out to be the closest contested Cup of all, with any number of teams possibly fancying their chances of getting one of the three promotion places, Rastrick BC very much emerging as the dark horse, being unbeaten and already having had their bye week.

In the 10-man team Beaumont Cup, Springwood BC tasted their first defeat but hang on to top spot.

Elsewhere, Crosland Moor BC B, Kirkheaton Con B, Lockwood Con C and Lindley BC B all appear to have a strong hold on the top places in the other Cups at this still early stage of the season.
