RONNIE WORMALD got back to winning ways at the Griffin and booked his place in the Champion of Champions tournament.

The Yorkshire player had a crushing 21-3 victory over Richard Brook in the final of the latest Sixteen, sponsored by Lesley and Mark Wood.

And he will be aiming to carry that form through to the meeting of champions at the Colne Valley venue on April 4.

After his win, Wormald commented it was nice to get some sun on his back, saying that it was no effort to reach except in the final when the green slowed and caught both bowlers out with lots of short deliveries.

Brook alsoŠ confirmed he got caught out and didn’t pick up the change of pace, but he described Wormald as ‘a class act’ and someone who exposes any weaknesses in your game. Members should note the draw for the preliminaries of the Bernard Sigsworth Memorial competition – another of the Griffin’s major events – will take place on Sunday afternoon (entry sheet is in clubhouse or ringŠsecretary on 07734689775).
